The fact that mil­lions of Amer­i­cans were hav­ing their homes fore­closed on by a shad­owy in­dus­try agen­cy us­ing robo sig­na­ture ma­chines with­out re­view­ing the de­tails of the al­leged de­fault has be­come the scan­dal du­ jour.

Mus­lim Amer­i­cans prac­tic­ing their re­li­gion in free­dom, re­ject­ing the per­ver­sion of the faith that drives Al Qae­da, and preach­ing against rad­i­cal­ism and vi­o­lence is ex­act­ly what bin Laden fears.

When the right’s view of the Con­sti­tu­tion was as­cen­dant 75 years ago, ba­sic pro­tec­tions such as a re­stric­tion on child la­bor were de­clared un­con­sti­tu­tion­al; laws ban­ning dis­crim­i­na­tion were un­think­able; and So­cial Se­cu­ri­ty was wide­ly viewed as next in line for the Supreme Court’s chop­ping block.

Amer­i­ca’s right now wants noth­ing more than to re­vive this dis­cred­it­ed the­o­ry of the Con­sti­tu­tion.

Progressive voters are starting to feel that the Oba­ma Ad­min­is­tra­tion is mov­ing more and more to­wards poli­cies that many who worked to elect Oba­ma have worked to op­pose in re­cent years.
